Seven differences between «Biceps» athletic studio and other sport clubs.

Machines, free weights and equipment.

Unfortunately, drawings of machines that stand in almost all clubs of the world were made by designers having no practical experience of intensive training and profound knowledge of biomechanics and anatomy of muscles and joints of human body. Sometimes the very idea of design is interesting, but small imperfections of this idea make the machine inconvenient and not efficient to work out muscles during its practical implementation. Let’s consider common weaknesses and deficiencies of the most popular machines and exercise equipment (dumbbells and rods) in clubs and then compare them with specific examples of “Biceps» club. These machines are designed and (or) finalized by a trainer with 10 years experience, taking into account nuances of practically «painful» features of biomechanics. Besides, they function as efficiently as possible. Below you can see photos of equipment and ammunition of «Biceps» club in Kiev. «Female» machines. Yuriy Spasokukotsky’s technique is intended for efficient training of both men and women. «Biceps» club is not «masculine» and is equipped with both universal and predominantly female machines. It offers great machine for legs spreading and brining them together while sitting, as well as a pendulum and swinging machine for working out your legs and buttocks in a standing position.

A training machine similar to a machine of an American brand “HAMMER” is probably one of my major developments for «Biceps» club. A similar machine has been produced for a long time by many manufacturers. The idea of the machine is good – it is aimed at replacing the traumatic «bent-over barbell row” in a safer, but as efficient exercise even with free weights. In practice, you are faced with the fact that the trajectory of the machine’s motion does not exactly repeat the natural trajectory for training of the broadest muscles of back. At first I thought that I was dealing with a wrong copy of the American machine, and our designers didn’t copy exactly the western sample. As the result, instead of exercising the broadest muscles of back (they are often called «back wings «) the middle part of back works, which is also useful, but not in this case. Other imperfections: – there is no footrest, the base is not solid and broad enough, low amplitude for adjustment of seat and the base chest platform. Several years later, I got acquainted with the original «Hammer» machine in a popular Kiev club. An American original version was manufactured perfectly: it had solid, had and more comfortable supporting surface, but, alas, there was no correct trajectory (traction has to be done to the beltline). Handles of the machine didn’t go to the sides, when they were pulled to the body. Anyway, there were no right footrests. Apparently Western anatomists, when advising designers of such a well-known company, had different idea about function of muscles than my experience proved and Russian books on anatomy advised. But those who tried my horizontal traction machine «Biceps Line» confirm: working with a large weight is much more comfortable and the back muscles are involved much better. Try it yourself and I guarantee you’ll be amazed with power for working out and pumping the broadest muscles of back!

It represents a unique hybrid of two types of bars (chest and triceps options), two types of pull-ups (narrow back, and average parallel grip), rises of straight and bent legs when hanging, leg raises on an incline bench with an adjustable angle load and Evminov’s board!

This machine enjoyed positive reviews of users, even in its first original design. I liked it too, but then decided to improve it, since this position is particularly important for training the lower body for both men and women. Having extended the platform by 40 centimeters, we solved the problem of working out internal thigh muscles, which is important for women, and simultaneously we make work for tall athletes more comfortable, since they need to put their feet wider. Having increased the amplitude of a safety regulation support, we made the machine safe. Now both tall people and not very tall are not afraid that the weight can press them down. And of course, capacity and structural strength of the machine was increased that allowed making the rods for weight plates longer, now strong athletes can put truly great weights without being afraid that the machine will fall down into pieces.

In the clubs where I was a coach and where I exercised myself, we had to append additional weight plates to sets of standard weight plates to get a weight heavy enough. At the same time there was risk that the weight plates would come off the rod and fall on a leg. Thinking about it distracted from doing exercises. We solved the problem by asking manufacturers to install additional boards in such machines as a crossover and horizontal-vertical traction.

When manufacturing this design, we tried to reproduce precisely the motion trajectory and hands position, while lifting at an angle dumbbell presses seated. Judging by trainees’ opinions and my own feelings the result exceeded all expectations! The machine is particularly useful and efficient for beginners (because their muscles-stabilizers denied even with small dumbbells), as well as for athletes who can not find dumbbells with 80 kilos in a club.
For mid-level athletes we still recommend more traditional bench press dumbbells.

Perhaps you are an experienced weight-lifter or you may not have guessed yet that «bench press» is a separate efficient kind of sport. Competitors lift incredible weights, and 300 kilograms weight is not a limit for a long time! If you want to increase seriously your performance in bench press, you will need a trainer – a bench press champion and this professional bench with length, width and height strictly defined. At the same time you will strengthen triceps, delta, broadest muscles and pectoral muscles (chest doesn’t play the first violin in a bench press).

It needs to be chosen very carefully, since changing the bench slope makes the exercise more or less efficient for a particular candidate in order to improve his high and developed chest muscles. The problem was solved by the manufacturer by means of making the angle adjustable. However, having made the width of the bench minimum acceptable (we extended it by 3 centimeters), we made it suitable for an efficient horizontal bench press. However, the bench is narrower than a professional one. Since some athletes prefer «bodybuilding» technique of a bench press to «power-lifting» one, we did all possible for variation of techniques, as well as for making the equipment universal.

There is nothing better than a wide bench with a reliable support system for heavy dumbbells lifting. In other clubs I observed how back of a bench falls exactly when fulfilling a dumbbell lifting exercises at an angle (it is an unforgettable sensations for both a sportsman and spectators). Therefore no unreliable locks and flimsy bolts! Everything is fundamental and durable! Large width and optimal stiffness of the bench allows working with huge dumbbells without fear that blades will «fall out». Do you want to work on a more familiar and narrower bench? No problem! There are 3 universal benches for a horizontal dumbbell bench press and benches for a dumbbell press angled top and a bench for dumbbells press angled down (the lower part of the pectoral muscles, «trimming») at your disposal.

Before opening our club we prepared the following set of dumbbells:
1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9.10.12.14.16.18.20.22.24.26.30.35.40.45.50.55.60 kilograms. We consider buying dumbbells with 28, 32, 37, 65, 70 kilos. Dumbbells were assembled from disks with sufficiently larger diameter to avoid problems with excessive length of dumbbells weighing more than twenty-six kilograms. In order to save space in the club the dumbbell rack has three dumbbell rows.

The latest development of «VASIL NEO CLUB» line is one of those training machines, which has great design and reliability (tape is almost unbreakable). It is one of those machines, which appeared not in the result of a development or improvement, but is really good in the first original version. Now even a weak girl can learn pull-ups and push-ups on the bars with it (thanks to this acquisition, there are 3 pairs of bars and 4 beams in «Biceps» club, all have different purposes and characteristics).
